We understand that some of the words we use can be confusing, so we have compiled the following glossary to help make things a little clearer
Alpin White is a term often used by bathroom manufacturers (in particular Villeroy & Boch and Duravit). It simply means "standard" white and will match other standard white products from other bathroom manufacturers. For example a basin from Villeroy & Boch in "Alpin White" will be the same colour as a white Zamori shower tray or a white ClearGreen bath.
Ceramicplus is a special easy-clean glaze that Villeroy & Boch can apply to their ceramic items such as basins and toilets. Ceramicplus works by filling the pores that naturally occur when ceramic products are fired and this stops dirt from clinging to the surface of the product. Ceramicplus is invisible and so does not affect the colour of the products it is applied to. Ceramicplus products are often available from stock (so 3-5 working days delivery time) or will be applied to order (so a lead time of around 3 weeks).
Grinded / Ground Basins
A basin which is described as being "grinded" is a basin that has literally been ground down on the underside so that it can sit absolutely straight on a worktop or furniture. This means that the bottom side is therefore not glazed and so not designed to be exposed to the eye as it will not be very attractive.
Star White is a colour specific to Villeroy & Boch. Star White is a more "brilliant" or gloss white than standard white (Alpin White) and products finished in Star White will only match with other Star White products from Villeroy & Boch. Star White comes with CeramicPlus included as standard and it is usually produced to order - please allow around 3 weeks for sanitaryware in Star White and 6 weeks for baths.
Wondergliss is a special easy-clean glaze that Duravit can apply to their ceramic items such as basins and toilets. Wondergliss works by filling the pores that naturally occur when ceramic products are fired and this stops dirt from clinging to the surface of the product. Wondergliss is invisible and so does not affect the colour of the products it is applied to. Wondergliss is usually always applied to order and so will normally have a lead time of around 3 weeks.
